The bouldering at Anston Stones Wood all takes place on land owned by Anston Parish Council. To preserve the good relationship that climbers have with the Parish Council, The British Mountaineering Council have agreed the following guidelines which we ask all climbers to adhere to:

  • Stick to existing footpaths and firm ground, avoid trampling on vegetation
  • Pick up any litter you come across
  • Stay off the railway line
  • Climb only on areas that have already been developed (i.e. Woody’s Rock, the Wave area, Rocky Valley, Hidden Wall, Apprentice Wall, Dukes Wall, Through Post, and Frodo buttress.)

In addition to the above, avoid topping out where possible.

Rockfax Description
The crag classic and one of the best limestone problems this side of the M1. From a honest sit-start (on a high right side-pull and left on whatever flake you can reach from sitting) pull on and climb the steep wall eventually bearing left to finish on the same flat ledge as Resonate. Gaining and then leaving the eponymous flesh-eating pocket provides the crux. Originally f7C so low in the grade at f7C+, and lower still if standing start tactics are employed. © Rockfax

UKC Logbook Description
Starting right of Resonate on a sidepull and undercut, heel / toe and climb the steep wall, veering left via a big move to a good hold to finish on the same jugs as Resonate. Can be done from sitting but commonly started crouched due to rock quality/dampness with no change in grade.

Ticklists

Magstone's Best , Peak 200 , Scrittle and CHoss , Bus Punters , Stone Cold Classics

βeta: Definitely favours a taller climber. Did all the moves in isolation and then 2nd attempt from the bottom. Style points for the huge swing on the last move
