fizzicist 28 May, 2016 - Started out with low cloud (maybe 500m) in the morning on the way up, and a spit of rain. This hadn't cleared by the time we walked up the cononish track to Ben Lui but we could see it rising so we went for it as planned. Turned out to be a blinder of a day. No clear summit on Ben Lui for us, but for the other three it was glorious. The light wind was pretty cool when sat still, but good weather all day. Beat the guidebook by an hour on the hill but somehow lost half of this on the way down! Guidebook bog on the way out wasn't as bad as i thought it would be but still pretty sustained!! Ridge up to Ben Lui was a highlight for sure :)

Michael.paparakis 24 Aug, 2013 - Climbed with Stewart & Simon. Began at 08.30. Parked in car park just off A82 at Dalrigh and headed on up the main path for about 7km, just until we hit. Cononish farm. The path heads further on for about another 2km until you come to the Alt that runs down from the corrie on Ben Lui. Head up this steep path for about 400m vertical until you are in the corrie but do not head to the back and start climbing the scree slopes. Instead there is a faint path that heads off right from the path you are on, marked with an arrow of stones, that takes you winding up the grass slopes. Once you attain the ridge you follow the path all the way to the summit which is well in once you attain the summit. The cloud was in over the summit around 900 metres. From the summit you head back about 300m to pick up the path that will take you to a col before ascending a'Chleibh - a simple down and up taking about 1 hour. Once you descend to the col we ascended the path back to Lui to a height of 950m and then contoured to reach a Bealach between Lui and Oss and then had to drop all the way to 700m having to curve around the south western flank of Lui to ascend the south eastern flank onto Oss. The going was boggy and there was no real path countouring or coming down. But there was an intermittent path on the ascent to Oss which was a gradual climb of sorts. Once on Oss head north east to pick up a path that descends to a beallach that ascends north of Loch Oss and follow this all the way to Dubhchraig, no problems here. Great views into Loch Lomond as the cloud lifted. Descent was from a simple cairn marked on the path to Dubhchraig, over grassy slopes that lead north east into and through the forest. It follows the river all the way down and is extremely boggy. The path splits at one point after you go through the first of three dilipadated deer fences with one path heading over the river onto a better path but this winds back for two km; your path continues through the forest and is boggier still and overgrown. Eventually you will reach the footbridge marked on the 1:25 map where the river you have followed all the way down joins Cononish - but it s no longer in use. Instead ford the river and follow the path alongside the railway to cross over the bridge. You are now 1km from the car park.
