Please refrain from climbing outside

Due to the ongoing spread of Covid-19, please abstain from climbing outside.

At UKC we are all climbers and we understand the strong urge to be outdoors as the weather is finally improving, but we feel this is no longer socially acceptable. You can read our statement here.

We have suspended the UKC Logbooks Top Ascents and Conditions pages and we will no longer accept ascents dated from 23rd March onwards. You can still upload your historic ascents.

Northern Wayfarer 8 Aug, 2019 - Left Bloodybush Edge after 8pm with the sun setting behind me. Raced the shadow up the hill. Sadly the mist came in just as I was approaching the top. Bagged it with just enough light and in the fog. Took a wrong turn off the hill. I knew I had to follow a stream to Low Bleakhope farm but found myself following Smalehope Burn. Eventually realised my mistake as the fog cleared and went over the top of Bush Knowe following a quad bike track that led to the Salter's Road. Followed Salter's to the farm then picked up the road back to Hartside in the dark. A long trudge made to feel longer by the lack of features in the black. 6/6 of the Cheviot 6. Total walk was 26.5 miles, 4996ft of ascent.
