ANC 8 Apr, 2016 - Drove up from Edinburgh in the van with the mountain bikes in the back. Left the van just after 9pm in the dark and biked up the track to where a path branches of to Shenavall Bothy. We hiked a bike for about an hour before giving up with them and abandoning them by a stream (padlocked up). We arrived at the bothy at about 1230 am sleep deprived and rather exhausted and about 8 & a half hours after leaving Edinburgh. We cooked up some filled pasta with pesto and chicken and headed to be about 1am. Awoke on the 8th and got up at 6am. Ate a breakfast of cereal bars and headed off on our epic adventure into the Fisherfields. River crossing one was our first obstacle and required a boots and socks off cold crossing which was something amusing to look back on. After a bog fest we ascended via the corrie lochan towards the first Munro following a clockwise trajectory as we flew around the hills. Ice axe and crampons were taken but we never really needed them. Some spectacular views through the day. Hit the wall at munro 4 (so unfit) and battered on till 2030 pm back at the bothy. The final 2 river crossings needless were a pain but we sacked taking out boots off this time and made a dash across with waterproofs and gators mitigating any boot flooding (for the most part). Made the call to spend a second night eating a roll for dinner and most remaining food. Went straight to sleep after drying by rather soaked feet (6hrs - they were like sponges); lou gave me a pair of dry ones we had which made the night super comfortable! The next morning we arose about 8 am ate a breakfast of cereal bars and headed out reaching the car in top time and being super glad we hiked the bike up the hill on the first night! Great trip! Weather: Fine on the Friday during the round. Some intermittent cloud with sun at times. No real wind to speak of. Didn't see another soul while out there. Many red deer and a group of goat on the way out the final morning.
