The rock varies in character from typically quarried on the lower tier through to more abrasive rock on the upper tier where blasting has uncovered large tracts of calcite-encrusted rock which almost feels like natural limestone. As with most quarries, extra vigilance needs to be exercised by both climber and belayer here given the blasting activity which has created potential for loose rock.

Don't swim in the bright blue toxic pool (as if you needed telling)!

βeta: The anchor is in terrible condition and is heavily rusted. It's completely loose on one side and a shock load might pull it out. Second bolt is heavily rusted as well. The final bolt before the anchor is also loose. A line that's worthwhile, but it needs some re-bolting work to be safe.

βeta: Was a few loose blocks in places, generally not too loose though. Was about to pull on a big free standing rock as I got up to the last flat ledge when I realised it was actually just a rock sitting on ledge! This has a white cross marked on it. Second bolt looks quite rusted but was quite firm. don't think it's height dependent as I'm 5ft 3. Can always do the moves a different way like last move to lower off, it's easier to layback and rockover on left foot

βeta: Height dependent! I wouldn\'t recommend leading it under 5.4.

βeta: The Heaven Crack of Harpur Hill ? Excellant line that would get three stars if it were in a decent location.
