The rock varies in character from typically quarried on the lower tier through to more abrasive rock on the upper tier where blasting has uncovered large tracts of calcite-encrusted rock which almost feels like natural limestone. As with most quarries, extra vigilance needs to be exercised by both climber and belayer here given the blasting activity which has created potential for loose rock.
Don't swim in the bright blue toxic pool (as if you needed telling)!
Rockfax Description
The best route here. Gain the wavy flake via a hard move, then climb this with powerful moves past the third bolt to a jug. Swing left to better holds and up to the belay. © Rockfax

βeta: Yeah agree with the bad placing of the second bolt. Put an extra long draw so you can clip before you stand on the poor footholds. | βeta?

βeta: Don't quite get all the hype about the dangerous second bolt - massive R hand jug at the start of the flake and decent feet to clip if you stand up to it, didn't feel dodgy to me.

βeta: Classic. A great rock feature (by any standards let alone Harpur Hill) and a seductively obvious sequence make this hard to resist. Not desperate, but potent climbing most of the way. Pretty steady for F7a?
