Overview

The club now has around 30 members and runs meets regularly to the Lakes, North Wales, Peak District as well as costal areas such as Dorset, Pembroke and Cornwall. The club promotes both climbing and walking the core members of the club hold a wealth of experience between them.
Up until recent years the format of the meets revolved around traveling to the destination by coach, but now with somewhat diminished numbers private cars are the order of the day, the enthusiasm of the members is as strong as ever.
Occasional trips abroard are undertaken in recent years the Dolomites and Peru have been successful and enjoyable trips.

Always friendly and welcoming, the members of SMF continue the traditions of SMF, based on 40 years of maountaineering comaraderie. Be it in the local area for 'home' pub meets or in the UK, a SMF trip is a great trip. Next year, 2008, is the club's 40th year. Watch for something special.
