Overview

Hello, my name's Pete. I rent rooms/beds on a bed and breakfast (simple, help yourself affair: toast, marmalade, tea, coffee) basis. I live on site. There are 4 rooms currently available with a total of 10 beds. It is also possible to rent the whole house.

The house is my workplace as well as my home so it's functional rather than frilly. I run a small carpentry workshop and construction business on the western edge of the Snowdonia National Park. I share with 2 friendly sheepdogs (I'm not unfriendly myself!) There are 4 rooms available with the possibility of more space should it be needed (I'm happy to improvise for people on a budget) also, camping is a possibility in my adjoining field. I enjoy cooking and can provide simple meals if requested. There is a large dining kitchen and 2 comfortable sitting rooms, central heating and multi-fuel stove.

Right at the foot of the mountains, this is a wonderful place, either for active people such as walkers and climbers or for those who simply want to relax and enjoy the surroundings. Rock climbing is within walking distance at nearby Cwm Silyn and Cwm Dulyn, also at Tremadog, a 10 minute drive away. Most of the main Snowdonia crags are within a 30 minute drive. We are at the western end of the Nantlle ridge, a popular and highly recommended walk. Shorter walks around the village and nearby lakes start right outside the door. The village itself is at the end of the line, that is to say it's not on the way to anywhere so without through traffic it's very quiet and peaceful for those wishing to get away from it all.

There are shops 2 miles away (Co-op and others), supermarkets in Caernarfon and Porthmadog, both about 10 miles away and a great pub/restaurant with excellent food 5 miles down the road. Although we're up on the mountain it's just a 15 minute drive to the nearest beach and there are plenty of others throughout the Llyn peninsula, most within 30/40 minutes drive.

There are hourly buses to and from Caernarfon from the bus stop which is 50 metres away. For buses to Porthmadog and further south it's a 15 minute walk to the main road. Nearest railway stations are at Bangor, 20 miles north and Porthmadog, 10 miles south.

This is something of a neglected yet beautiful and tranquil corner of the National Park (If you want to join the crowds go to Llanberis!) That's what makes the place unique and is my reason for living here.
