Overview

A friendly and ethical club, committed to teaching and encouraging members at all levels in various climbing disciplines. As a university club, we run subsidised fortnightly weekend climbing trips around the UK during term-time, as well as at least one longer climbing trip abroad every winter. We also organise a minibus from the university to Calshot climbing wall every Tuesday evening, and have popular weekly socials. Most of our members are from Southampton University, but our extensive network of 'olds' and 'honoraries' are a central part of the SUMC experience. Unofficial trips happen regularly, from weeks of new routing in the Hebrides to evening DWS sessions at lulworth, light-hearted skiing in the Alps, and serious winter climbing in Norway.
