I went to golden gecko to Boulder and although the centre is small compared to others, there is more than enough there for a fair few days working around your flash grade and then above. Around 20 v4/5's is a decent amount for me, with a fair amount harder than this to work on when I go back. The wall is tall and feels airy. The setting sometimes makes this feel like a problem rather than a blessing ('go-y moves high up) but generally the height is well used. The setting is Generally good, although a repeat of the same committing moves, high up on the harder stuff means they feel samey, scary and not set for pure hard boulderers. V6 and up maybe not set by v6 and up climbers? The cafe is excellent, also. Possible gripe is that, at £9 a session, it feels a little too expensive compared to other training facilities, especially considering the lack of monthly memberships (TCA Bristol, the arch London, the project Poole are all cheaper than this and offer £50-60 monthly memberships). But considering the lack of options around here, it's a welcome addition. Cheers guys.

A fantastic centre! My daughter (6) and friend climbed there this morning on a supervised session. As an experienced climber of indoor walls, she did not tire of the challenges faced on the well set routes that the auto-belays had to offer. Holly had such a good time that we stayed for an additional two hours. It was clear from the way that both children approached the clipping and unclipping from the wall that they had been instructed very well and that they had found the climbing a challenge. Whilst the girls were instructed I had a good opportunity to look over the bouldering wall, which really impressed me both in its sheer size and also the range of routes and complexity offered. Unfortunately, because I was supervising the girls climb I didn't have an opportunity to personally try the wall out but I will be revisiting for a personal run in the near future. Whilst not the tallest walls available on the south coast there is plenty of techincal challenge here on both the walls and bouldering routes. The website clearly and accurately described what we found - and more! The auto-belays offer a great single person climbing opportunity with lots of choice up beyond level 6+. Equally, there was a good choice of lead and roped climbs available. Finally, I'd like to recommend a chat with Geoff. He offered a great deal of advice and was attentive to my comments and suggestions. He volunteered plenty of guidance without preaching and listened to my needs as a relatively new climber. He has a great passion for the centre and made us all fell very welcome. I will definitely be back in the future and hope to see a Golden Gecko in the north of the county in the near future!

Hi Jack, sorry to hear you had a disappointing experience at our centre. We would like to thank you for taking the time to leave feedback that we can hopefully build upon. If you have any suggestions of things to improve on we would love to invite you back to the centre for a chat. Unfortunately we cannot change the height of the walls but we gave it our best shot! ;) Matt Radford, Chief Instructor Centre Manager

I very rarely take the time to post reviews, but I think the one on the site at the moment is misleading. We stopped by here on the way back home, having been rained out at Swanage, and we were disappointed. The centre itself is very small and the lead wall/top rope walls are only marginally taller than the bouldering wall. Of the 20 or so lines, 10 are auto-belay. The bouldering is okay, but nothing to write home about. If you're planning a children's party then this could be the place for you. Otherwise give it a swerve.

Excellent climbing wall and welcome addition to the Romsey/Salisbury area. Large bouldering area with a variety of routes at all grades. Easy almost ladder like routes for beginners up to routes that are above my grade (I'm climbing on a good day font 7a and F7a). Also includes top roping, some leading and a large selection of auto belays which are great for kids and also adults looking to do some serious stamina training by doing circuits. Cafe doing drinks and food, often use this to fuel up and chat with friends. Staff are all super nice, friendly and knowledgeable. Definitely my new local wall!
