When down on Tuesday night, a good little wall, but would get bored if I climbed here offen. Some of the routes are well worn, and some times hard to tell between colours (blue/gray & white/cream). It has a nice vibe about it when the shop is closed, bit of a pub lock in touch. All together a cracking little wall.

This is a good wall to start of on. Had my first atempt at a wide chimney up between the two walls. Havent been for a while as i am in flat suffolk, two hour drive depending on traffic, but was gutted to here about the prices going up. Me and my sister have had the odd poseing day on there, the most memorable being when she video taped about half an hours climb with the camera on its side. How are necks did ache watching the tv sideways view that evening. Handy hint if you want to make it a bit more taxing try climbing with one arm behind your back.

I went to the Xscape wall for the first time tonight. There was a good atmosphere there, everybody was very friendly. The downside was it is small. There are 8 autobelayers, which means you'll need to queue to climb. No routes are graded, and the bouldering wall isnt worth bothering with. Its ok if your on your own and fancy a quick climb, but apart from that its disappointing

A very under-rated wall. Although the shop running the wall runs tasters, they only take a maximum of 6 at a time, so there are always 3 routes left open. Even if things do get a little too busy you can always pop out to costers for coffee just over the mall. Once you've paid you have access all day so what's the rush? The routes won't stretch a good climber too far, but attempting features only on each of the faces is a good challenge. Don't be put off by the wall's comercial location, but try and go in the week.

This wall can attract quite a few posers. Knowones seems to be an expert there, more a load of buisness salesmen persuing thier own ambition to become professional climbers. You do get it all, people clinmbing with chalk bags? the occsional dude with gear hanging from his harness, polarised sunglasses indoors! I'm not knockin' the quality of the wall, or even the good loyal climbers. Its more the show-offs that annoy me. Showing-off to a crowd of school-kids while climbing something that amounts to nothing more than a v. diff. P.S. watch out for spitting children from the floor above.

Great wall, with varied routes with something for everyone from the beginner to the more experienced climber. The problem... The gear shop that runs the wall do "taster" sessions - they have priority on the ropes so if you go at busy times you can be asked to give up the rope you are on. Sometimes these sessions can take all the auto-belay points! Its a good job that your payment is for as long as you want to stay... whereas the "tasters" only last 15minutes. Still if you go on a Saturday you can be interrupted quite often.

WARNING: This wall is noisy; not the place to go for a quiet climb. The wall is in the centre of a mall area and is surrounded by several stores all playing different music, with VERY loud, pounding 'bass beat'. I asked the Silvertrek wall manager about it and he says he's received constant complaints from climbers since the new shops opened last year, but that the Xscape centre management have not been able to remedy the situation. However, the climbing wall is open until 10pm some nights, and the shops close at 8pm, so he says it's possible to get a quieter climb between 8-10pm.
