Overview

Mountain Expertise is run by Kathryn James a qualified and experienced Winter Mountaineering & Climbing Instructor and International Mountain Leader. In addition to the mountaineering andclimbing based qualifications Kathryn is also a Resceu 3 Instructor able to deliver Offsite Risk Management (ORM) and Rope Rescue Operator (RRO) courses. 

She offers a flexible and personalised approach to instruction or guiding so you can learn what you need from your time on the hill or crag. She is an experienced climber and mountaineer having climbed throughout the UK, in Europe, North America, Africa and Asia. Kathryn runs Rock Climbing Courses in Snowdonia (North Wales) through the summer and Winter Climbing & Mountaineering courses in the Scottish Highlands as well as in Snowdonia when conditions allow.  

Kathryn's instructing career has seen her work at a variety of centres in North Wales and in Scotland, most recently at Plas y Brenin, the National Mountain Centre where she was a senior instructor running the MCI and winter departments. Working on skills courses, school courses and many of the Mountain Training qualifications courses as a course director, trainer and assessor.
