Overview

Up to 9m lead/toprope wall in sports hall, by Bendcrete, built 1992. Separate bouldering room with overhanging sections.

New roof and overhang section added October 2008, wall completely rerouted with new holds October 2008. Some in-situ quick-draws but bring your own quick-draws (5) and leading rope as there are no top ropes.

You are advised to check either the website or with the Leisure Centre if traveling a long way as the wall is sometimes shut when other activities take place in the main sports hall.

Tuesday and Thursday evenings the wall is shut 18:30 to 21:30 for courses.

The wall is gritstone like and offers around 30 different routes.

Not a bad little wall, never anyone else there so all the wall free. Challenging sustained overhang, good ledge over slab for abseiling and setting up top anchor.

Sizeable wall with good features on all the routes. The large overhang can be daunting for the beginner, but there are easier routes on the flat wall. The leader wall is bolted, so bring your own rope and quickdraws (about 6 to the top of the highest wall). One ticket is valid all day, so good value for money, though there is little to keep you for more than a few hours.
