Overview

Approx 15 metres high and as wide as the length of a tennis court (it's beside the tennis courts!) The routes are changed regularly, but on the leading section, there are two routes in the F4 grade, about 7-10 in the F5 grade, 5-7 in the F6 grade, and 3 (I think) in the F7 grade. [Mark Shaw 9/99]
You will need to bring your own rope if you want to lead, as they will not allow the topropes to be pulled down. [Ryan Simpson 2/02]
New bouldering section added, lots of new problems for all abilities. [Rachel Switzer 3/02]

Climbing wall repainted in early 2014. A dozen or so new routes go up every month. Volumes and some in situ quick-draws/extenders have been introduced also. Still as good as it gets for indoor route climbing in Belfast.

This is probably the best wall in Belfast, far superior to the new one in the QUB PEC. There's good a range of routes, an arrete, plenty of overhangs ranging from gentle to just plain evil and two permanent bouldering sections (one at each end). However it is not without its faults: I can't remember the last time the wall was cleaned - it's incredibly difficult to tell the colour on the features. There is no grading other than a bit of paper you're supposed to write what you *think* is the grade, sellotaped to a cabinet. Routes change frequently and not all parts of the old ones are always taken down, so you're left staring at the wall wondering "how do I get from there to there?" All in all, a good place to go, people are friendly and helpful (well, the climbers are anyway, I've yet to see any staff down there) and apart from the staggering grot on the wall, an enjoyable and relaxing place.

Both the main and the bouldering wall have recently been changed due to a climbing competition, many new routes, a few of very severe grade, not alot left for the beginner however. Current pricing is £4- at all times. The membership card is £2.50.

Evenings are very busy. The wall is poorly maintained (very sweaty, chalky holds.) All for £4.70 a pop. RIP OFF (Not bad apart from that)
