Overview

Moved to old Noel Street Baths in September 2010.

Nottingham Climbing Centre boasts 1000 square metres of climbing wall. The centre welcomes climbers of all ages and experience, from beginner to professional. The centre offers Bouldering, Top Roping and Leading Facilities. Full matted bouldering with 6 graded bouldering circuits, including monthly competitions in winter. 1000m2 of walls provide a variety of angles from slab to overhangs. Up to 40 top ropes are available on the tower, headwall and sidewalls. The ropes can be moved to new locations upon request. There are many suitable sites for lead climbing with grades to suit all.

The centre is open 10am - 10pm weekdays and 10am - 7pm weekends. Membership costs £3 for life and it costs between £3.50 and £7.50 to climb. Equipment is available to hire or why not visit our on site shop.

If not a competent climber you can get tuition from our qualified instructors.
Nottingham Climbing Centre runs tailor made courses for individuals and groups which in the past have included schools, children, adults, Scouts, Guides, Duke of Edinburgh’s Award, ladies circles, round tables, special needs, and companies such as Vauxhall, Citroen, Mars and Boots. Our instructors have vast experience of every type of group. We are confident we can meet your needs.

The centre is north of Nottingham city centre off Northgate in New Basford. There is a tram stop very close by. Ring for directions or via our website.

The Nottingham Climbing Centre also provides a cafe with viewing gallery offering both hot and cold snacks and drinks.

We run a Monday Club to welcome competent climbers new to the centre and give them a chance to meet other climbers.

I have just joined the cloimbing centre along with my daughter who is 5 years old. She loves it and has really taken to climbing!! The centre is great for bouldering and for her the top rope climbs are great and really getting her thinking. I am enjoying being able to boulder along side her and still be tested. The other plus is that evryone is very friendly, a must in my opinion for this type of centre. Looking forward to many years climbing here with Chloe.

Fantastic centre for bouldering (most varied in the country) and the staff are really helpful and knowledgable being "proper" climbers helps, rather than spotty YTS youths. Cellar adds a new wooden training facility for thos 'ard boys with iron fingers. Well worth the entry fee!

I used to climb there a few years ago: it had a friendly, no-frills atmosphere, a nice bouldering arch but the roped routes lacked height. I visited on 30th October 2004 and found they've decided to play to their strengths; most of the centre has been fitted with crash mats for bouldering, so you can now free climb over a huge area! I've not been anywhere with this amount of free space. Vast traverses are possible, there are oodles of graded, high boulder problems. They still have the neat arch for people who like their climbs horizontal, and one of the walls has a small (1m) roof to pull over. The walls are textured giving small features as well as bolt-ons. For roped climbs there are the leading wall and a freestanding pillar for top-roping though these now have fairly limited space. The facilities are all there; basic changing room, they can make food. The centre is extremely well hidden: it's in a nondescript building down an access road on a factory site. Although there's a council road sign across the road indicating it, the centre's own sign seems to have disappeared, so a map is a good idea if visiting for the first time. Overall this isn't in the same class as the "first line" centres e.g. the Foundry or Rock City due to number and height of roped routes, but it's a good centre for people who want to just get on with climbing.
