The Mepal Outdoor Activity Centre is now closed for good following a fire.

Very small but plenty to keep you entertained for an evening. Frankly quite cramped and given the limited opening you can guarantee it'll be like sardines. Some good features given the size; cracks, corners, overhangs etc. I found most routes very challenging and there's not a lot for beginners to do. Overall, it's well worth a visit for climbers stuck in the fens.

A very small wall. Cambridgeshire is naff for climbing gyms but id say that this is the best so far. It is very confined with a 11.5 metre lead wall with 3 or 4 routes graded from 4c-6b ish. The other wall is all top roped and is not high but has a cracking overhang for its size. The wall is now open again for public use on Tuesdays from 7 till 10, cost is £4.

This wall was only open to the public (i.e. for recreational use, not paid instruction) on Tuesday evenings 7pm-10pm until recently, when the manager decided to terminate the Tuesday evening sessions with no notice. We were told by the staff that this was because climbers complain too much! We have been told by the staff that this wall is now only available for paid instruction by the centre staff.
