If you boulder do not climb here. Its awfully small, poor setting and crappy, dirty holds. Enough said. Go climb at amersham, only at 20 min drive and actually quite good

Went on a Wednesday evening and because the place is so small it took ages to get on anything decent, even then the routes feel like they were poorly set, having no flow and being incredibly off balance all the time! Couple this with the heat and it was a sweaty, crowded greasy and polished place to climb. But what do I know, you might like it!

In responce to NR's comment. It is a University Climbing wall so obviously there will be student hours only. These are Monday after 9pm and Wednesday 2pm-4pm. However with regards to NR's snips at the student using climbing as a spectators sport, then if he wants to show us how its done then fine. But I bet even some of our freshers can out climb him! Otherwise, Dehav for a small climbing wall is one of the best i've been too. The climbing staff know what they are on about (which lets face it is unusual for indoor walls in this part of the country) and are both very friendly. Since the resetting and cleaning of the wall in summer, the routes are technically good and varied. There is a new route put up every week, which is remarkable for wall part-time staffed by 2 instructors. All in all very good for its size so good if you have a few hours to spare, however if you have the day go into london. Shame theres no air conditioning (bring lots of water). Check the website to avoid booked in groups, its only a small wall and there is sometimes not enough room for everyone.

Its a good climbing venue i went on a saturday and the only problem i found was that it was relly hot!

Don't go on a Monday. It's Student night, and you get kicked out at 9pm. Which is frustrating, as it appears that student climbing is a spectator sport - last night I counted 23 people watching one climber, yet the wall was out of bounds to all non-students.

Hatfield climbing wall should be good, with featured textured walls and a really steep boulder cave which is great to train on. BUT route setting is awful, boulder problems are NEVER changed and routes on the walls are unimaginative and also rarely changed. It is in need of a decent air con system to keep climbers cool and some decent route setters so that the wall can be as good as it should be.

I've climbed on this wall a few times and enjoyed it every time, I found the staff freindly and the wall uncrowded.

Spent a very pleasant, uncrowded morning at this wall. Staff friendly, no hassles, plenty of route variety at all levels and good atmosphere.

The nanny-ish attitude of the management is very annoying: when I went to check this out they wouldn't even let me walk round the cetre without a "minder". Even with the minder they wouldn't let me into the wall! I had to look through the glass partition. Putting it in a glass bowl at reception seems like a gimmick to make the rest of the centre seem radical. Avoid.

Could be good, but quite frankly it an't. Sometimes you pay for £5.50 and then get kicked out after 90 mins, which is frustrating when you have driven 30 mins to get there, other times you have to wait for half an hour to climb. However the popularity is not really the fault of the management. What is: is the heat, but they don’t let you take your t-shirt of, most of the routes are unimaginative and made up of soapy polished holds that would be more at home on a route at Stoney. There is a huge ankle snapping ledge on one of the leading walls just below a slight overlap. Also the place seems to attract more than its quotient of alpha males and tosses, but some of the locals are really nice and friendly and will show you there problems which is good because none of the problems are marked on the bouldering wall. Any way in conclusion the wall is crap, but the locals are friendly but what are the alternatives? At least some of the girls on reception are fit.

Although the wall is un doubtedly of a high quality, and you can have an enjoyable climb, i find that the lack of capacity coupled with the lack of booking facilities, can lead to the situation where you turn up and are refused entry to climb, because they have taken huge group booking for the entire wall. lack of gear hiring facilities also make it slightly less usable for the beginner. the wall it self however is great and the price is quite good for the quality of climb.

A very good wall, good mix of fixed features and bolt ons. 2 possible problems - it looks like it would get 'full' easily and it has a big glass wall (good for light but bad in summer). It's students only on Wednesday afternoons (check the web site). The cave is steep!

This is one awsome wall. it is the best i have found in this area. Even though i am a bit of an amature at climbing (since ive only been fully in to it for a year) this wall is challenging and has quite a diversity of holds and routes. the hight of it alone makes me love it. cheers Jony
