Bryn Golau is situated on the hill side above Dinas Mawddwy, mid-Wales, which is in an excellent location for the Arrans, the Rhinogs and Cader Idris. It is also short drive from the Snowdon area. A few minutes walk takes you into the village and notably to the Red Lion which does a good pint and excellent meals. Bryn Golau was once a shepherd's cottage and is situated next to a little stream with superb views out across Dovey Valley (Dyffryn Dyfi).
The cottage sleeps 17, divided into two rooms with a mix of bunk beds and an 'alpine' sleeping platform. Downstairs there is a living room with two large dining tables and some comfy chairs to relax in. Heat comes from a sizeable wood-burning stove which adds great character to the place. The hut has no mains electricity or gas pipeline so the cooking and hot water both rely on bottled propane gas. Lighting is provided via a 12 volt system charged by a solar panel and wind turbine. The kitchen is fully equipped with gas hobs and grills, pots, pans and cutlery. There is also a brick-built barbeque and picnic tables outside.
