The UKC team recently returned from the annual gear-fest in Friedrichshafen that is OutDoor. Here are some video interviews with brand representatives, who talked us through the key features of their latest creations in Camping and Walking Gear and Packs.
Arc'teryx - V80-V110 Rolling Duffel RRP £350 and £380
There are two versions of this luxurious whopper available, the 80 and 110 litres. An external frame increases internal space, also acting as protection for the duffel throughout transit. The wheels also mean it glides smoothly, rather than being carried awkwardly. Taped seams and a cold PU treatment means that it's pretty much waterproof, even at cold temperatures.

Camelbak - Nano Vest and Octane 10 RRP £79.99 and £94.99
A super light, super breathable and super stable vest designed with running in mind. It is also the first pack within Camelbaks range to not feature one of their famous reservoirs, instead using their new collapsible bottles. The Octane 10 is a larger and more features version more suitable for ultra distance runs.
Crux - Stealth and X2 Storm RRP £800
A major update to the existing X2 Storm. Using a unique fabric code named 'z tex'. Also, the single skinned version using a breathable fabric X-Tex. The Stealth is an ultra light (1.2kg) hybrid tunnel tent with TBS pro internal guiding system and an ultra-small pack size.
Deuter - Futura Pro RRP £135
A single or multi day hiking pack. The redesigned back system brings the weight down. It features a thinner mesh which dries quickly and wraps around the curvature of your back. The shoulder straps and hip belt pivot so that the pack moves with you.
Gregory - Optic RRP £135
Featuring a removable top lid, front stretch mesh product and quick access water bottle stow. An ultralight pack which exhibits Gregory's characteristics of fit, comfort and carry. The specialist back system transfers the weight to the hip and shoulder straps for ergonomic carrying.
Lowe Alpine - Aeon Range RRP £85
The Aeon is a range of versatile packs with a simple and reliable design. They are technical, multi-day packs with new ventilated Air Core back systems and ultra-thin Flexion harnesses.
Mammut - Neon Smart RRP £109
The ultimate sport climbers crag sack, with space for just about everything you'd need (and a pocket for everything else too)! The unique unfolding zip allows the pack to unwrap and lie flat, which is a unique feature.
Marmot - Ultra Elite Sleeping Bags
Building on the design of their current flagship synthetic bag - the Tresles Elite - Marmot have introduced the Ultra Elite for Spring/Summer 2018. Featuring PFC free ElixR Micro fill it is designed to the highest spec, essentially aiming to give down bags a run for their money when it comes to warmth to weight.
Montane - Halogen and Oxygen Packs RRP £90 and £80
Oxygen is the women's version available in 24 and 32 litres. Halogen unisex available in 25 and 33 litres. Lightweight, extremely tough and versatile day pack designed for all-mountain use.
Mountain Equipment - Aurora Sleeping Bag RRP £250 upwards
Following the successful redesign of their down bag range, Mountain Equipment have begun work on their synthetic range. The Aurora represents the cream of the crop, equivalent to the Extreme Expedition bags, only synthetic - thus well suited towards environments where moisture might be a problem.
MSR - Windburner Stove Line RRP £125 for a 1 litre Windburner and up to £230 for combo system
Windburner has been around for a few years but the line has been extended for next year....nesting stove system taken to the next level...really neatly designed, and we particularly love the huge group catering pans with heat exchanger bottoms, and the very original folding stove legs

Osprey - Levity RRP £240 - £260
The peak of the osprey range for 2018, the Levity has one of the most impressive volume-to-weight ratios of any pack we've ever seen. By cutting out absolutely everything unnecessary, and using lightweight materials throughout, Osprey have managed to produce a full spec backpacking pack with superb levels of comfort and ventilation but that weighs in at only 810g (45 litres) or 850g (60 litres). The weight - or rather, lack of it - has to be felt to be believed. At this price the Levity will appeal only to the serious ultralight enthusiast, but it's quite some achievement by Osprey and a worthy winner of an Outdoor Award for weight and materials and degree of innovation
Petzl - Bindi Headtorch RRP £50
Bindi is an incredibly small head torch. It is a development of the E light. It has 200 lumens and is aimed at high end users. Due to its water resistance it is ideal for water sports and wet conditions.

A super easy to use self inflatable mat. Includes an integrated pop sack in the stuff sack used to inflate the mat. No more huffing and puffing.
Sea to Summit - Alpha Pot Range RRP £30-50
A range of Hard anodised aluminium pots. Anodisation treats the aluminium so it does not affect taste or smell. Aluminium is very effective at transferring heat. The handle is a pivot lock handle which snaps in to place making the pot very secure. Very easy to clean and durable for years. Also includes bowls and cups. The Lightest anodised pots available.
Thermarest - Parsec RRP £350
800 fill power goose down, nikwax hydrophobic down. Comfort limit 0c...Transition limit -6c. 890g. These are thermarests new fast and light down range. Probably the most versatile in the fast and light sleeping bag range. The bags Integrate with mattress via loops on the underside. Down fill is zoned for efficiency, with less underneath and more on top. One of the lowest weight bags in its class. Seal line blocker dry compression bag. Prices range from 5 to 30 litres £24 to £38
Vango - F10 Series GR 35-40
A Vango Force 10 series trekking pack. Made with lightweight nylon and featuring a brand new Alp Fit back system supported by 2 aluminium bars. It has full clam shell opening on the front to allow for quick and easy access to the front of the pack.
Rab - Mythic 600 Sleeping Bag RRP £500
The Mythic is a super-light, durable, and comfortable high-end sleeping bag. Weighing in at 885g, it has a Comfort Rating of -5 and a Comfort Limit of -12; impressive figures that are undoubtedly influenced by the whopping 900 fill power Nikwax Hydrophobic down it includes.
