Berghaus has revealed details of its latest initiative to encourage the public to head outdoors. The brand has teamed up with leading outdoor navigation app ViewRanger to launch The Trail Takeover in three UK locations on Saturday 26 August. The free event has been designed to encourage more people to try outdoor activities and Berghaus is offering prizes for participants, including gift cards and an outdoor activity holiday worth £2,000.

The Trail Takeover follows last year's successful Get Out Game and is Berghaus' first official event as part of the pan-European #ItsGreatOutThere campaign, which the company helped to found. The takeover will be held in three locations, in Central Scotland, Cotswolds and the Peak District. Members of the public who want to take part need to follow two easy steps: Visit www.berghaus.com/trailtakeover.html and complete the form, selecting a preferred location; download the View Ranger app from www.viewranger.com/en-gb/get-the-app.

On 24 August, Berghaus will send all those who have signed up a free route to download in the ViewRanger app. The Trail Takeover will begin at 10:00am on 26 August and everyone who completes their trail and shares their experience on social media using #TrailTakover as it unfolds, will be in with the chance of winning the £2,000 holiday. In addition, there will be many more prizes (gift cards worth up to £100) hidden in the hills, which can be found by following the routes. Along the way, Berghaus will also be placing other surprises and experiences for participants to discover.
