New for winter 2016, the Berghaus Extrem Micro Down is versatile and lightweight jacket for extended adventures in the mountains.

It features a tough and weather resistant Pertex Quantum face fabric and body-mapped goose Berghaus Hydrodown, with a PFC-free Nikwax treatment, allowing the down to continue performing for at least 16 hours even when it gets wet. The advanced Berghaus body-mapping ensures the correct balance of warmth is distributed exactly where it's needed. The down is also RDS (Responsible Down Standard) certified, guaranteeing ethical sourcing.

Available in men’s and women’s specific versions, features on the Extrem Micro Down include: a fully adjustable, helmet compatible hood; zipped chest pocket; two large, zipped lower pockets with internal single-hand adjustment for the lower hem to prevent water ingress and heat loss; easy-grab zip pulls throughout for easy use with gloves; and low profile snug cuffs for improved comfort on the move.

The men’s jacket weighs 414g (size medium) and the women’s weighs 390g (size 12).

Features and Benefits:

  • Hydrodown Insulation - Hydrodown powered by Nikwax provides water repellent down insulation for up to 16 hours, keeping you dry in damp conditions
  • Body Mapping Technology - Micro baffles under the arms and down the side of the body provide low bulk and thermal efficiency in key areas
  • Pertex Quantum Fabric - A super lightweight face fabric that is windproof and breathable, with strong abrasion resistance

The men’s and women’s Berghaus Extrem Micro Down jackets retail at £190 and are available from www.berghaus.com and selected specialist outdoor retailers.

Looks lovely but it seems impossible to do a like for like comparison between Berghaus kit and competing products as Berghaus always seem to miss vital information from their product description. What about fill weight? Down loft? Berghaus have just released a belay jacket but put no info on about the amount of fill in it. So frustrating!
I'll see if I can find out for you tomorrow, sure they'd be able/happy to answer a set of questions - I'd be interested to know too.

Even Decathlon manage to specify the fill weight of their down jackets, on the garment label. And it takes account of size... No fill power rating, though. Or, as I have seen used on certain Chinese vending sites, the 'fluffy force'...

Yeah they're terrible for it, and their website is shockingly bad generally, and including for info on products.

I'm pretty sure I've complained about lack of detail about synthetic fill weights before. It smacks of complete ineptitude/understanding of their target market. As if their advertising department think only about superficial things like colour.
