Written by Peak bouldering addicts Rupert Davies and Jon Barton this guide contains virtually every good problem in the Peak District from Font 6c+ upwards, and the best of the problems that are easier than that. Every major gritstone crag is covered (including Stanage, Burbage and The Roaches), pretty much every minor crag, and that which is not covered in detail, we point you at with instructions to go forth and explore. The three main limestone crags (Raven Tor, Rubicon and Stoney Middleton) are covered in detail.
Almost every boulder in the Peak has probably been climbed at some stage and in many different ways. This book intends to guide you up the best lines and the most interesting problems, but it is not definitive. It is not necessary to illustrate every last problem, but that doesn't mean you can't climb it! There are some areas where the opportunities for exploration and invention are self-revealing; this guide will point you at these problems, but does not list each one.
Also featured are the cutting-edge works on the SCIENCE of bouldering, examining topics such as arete-nology and trav-cendentalism. Or it might just contain a few lists of problems to help you improve?
Packed full of fascinating background information on a diverse part of Scotland, this attractive and inspiring area guide is so much more than just a book of walks, says Dan Bailey.
