Senior Designer - Lowe Alpine Packs Department, Recruitment Premier Post, 3 weeks @ GBP 75pw Lowe Alpine is one of the most widely recognised brands in the outdoor industry today. This is a fantastic opportunity for a senior level designer to join our small but energetic packs team based in our office in Kendal on the edge of the Lake District.

Overview:

We have a rare and exciting opportunity for a Senior Designer. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing the design team on a day to day basis, ensuring the design direction is maintained, have an enthusiastic and team-orientated approach, a passion for the outdoors and bring a wealth of experience to the role. Key Responsibilities
• With the Head of Department and CEO set the design direction for the company
• Lead the design team and ensure they follow the brief and company design direction
• Ensure new designs are thoroughly tested using in-house facilities, field tests and 3rd party testers.
• Assist Head of Department with training – sales & retail
• Ensure Product Instructions produced by Designers are clear and legible
• Lead the choice of fabrics and give clear briefs, in a timely manner, to the fabric vendor
• Ensure the choices of components are made in a timely manner and are in-line with the design direction.
• Managing all SMU’s following brief from Head of Department
• Sign off final labdips

Experience & Qualifications
• Educated to degree/HND level or have the relevant experience in an appropriate discipline
• Demonstrate a high level portfolio of work and design knowledge
• Have proven experience of successfully managing and developing a team of designers
• Experience of developing design processes and inspiring innovative approaches
• Experience in providing accurate timings for projects
• Experience of working with Far Eastern factories

Skills & Knowledge
• Must be able to demonstrate a high level of design skill
• Have the ability and drive to develop design processes and procedures to meet the needs of the business for now and the future
• The ability to create and deliver effective presentations to colleagues to convey design ideas
• The ability to develop strong internal/external client relationships
• Excellent organisational skills including time management, planning, meeting targets/deadlines, objective setting
• Must be expert in the use of Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator & In-Design
• Must have experience and competency in a CAD programme

The successful candidate must be willing to undertake travel (including overseas) as required to fulfil the duties of the role.
