Mount Edith Cavell
Are you 1 in 100?

Cavell Nurses' Trust challenges you to join them in Jasper National Park, Canada, 22nd – 29th August 2015, for a fundraising week filled with a choice of activities! Choose from white water rafting, rock climbing, mountain biking, kayaking and the ultimate challenge, an ascent of Mount Edith Cavell!

Your efforts will help Cavell Nurses’ Trust to raise £1 million that will change the lives of over 3000 nurses, midwives and healthcare assistants in need and crisis, whilst also commemorating the Centenary of Edith Cavell's death.

The event experience of 2015, we will be partnering with a number of international nurses and army representatives from across all allied countries including Canada and the USA to commemorate and remember Edith Cavell as a heroine of WW1 and all those lost during the First World War. Edith Cavell was a British nurse who saved the lives of soldiers, helping some 200 escape from German occupied Belgium during World War 1. This led to her arrest and, after being tried for treason, was sentenced to death by German firing squad.  In her honour, the mountain running above Athabasca Pass was named in her honour.

To take part in this event, we are looking for people who love to challenge themselves, whilst having fun in the outdoors, and all whilst raising money for a really worthwhile cause. You will be able to select which challenge you take part in, with summit teams selected from those that express an interest in climbing Mount Edith Cavell. To be considered for a summit team you will need to be an experienced mountaineer (Alpine Grade 2,) or be fit and determined and prepared to attend a minimum of 2 training weekends. There are challenges to meet all levels of fitness, so if you don’t fancy the climb but still want to get involved, there will be plenty of other activities to get your heart pumping!

This is a chance of a lifetime, to not only take part in the climb and other activities, but to do so with a group of like-minded individuals, enabling you to meet new people, whilst raising funds for healthcare professionals who have dedicated their lives to helping others.

If you are selected for the challenge programme, the Cavell 100 will be awarded specially commissioned medals at a high profile and prestigious celebration event in central London, where a film of the challenge will be premiered. There will be a roll of honour on our website as a tribute to the 100 individual challengers with media coverage throughout the build-up and challenge itself.

So, what are you waiting for?! Challenge yourself to the experience of a lifetime in the Canadian Rockies! With only 100 places that are going fast, register your interest and find out more. Please visit our website , email or call 01527 595999.

The nurses should do a saucy calendar instead, then sell that.
