Programme:

Sandy Allan on Mazeno Ridge climb Sandy Allan will talk about his and his climbing partner Rick Allen's successful attempt of the Mazeno Ridge of Nanga Parbat - the longest ridge in Himalayas and one that was dubbed the "last great problem of the Himalayas". After their team decided to abandon the climb, Sandy and Rick still went for it, with only a pack of biscuits for food. Despite all odds, they eventually reached the summit but it took them three full days to get down without any food or water, struggling through deep snow at the limits of survival. Their ascent has become recognised as the most impressive British ascent on an 8,000m peak in a generation and their effort was acknowledged by an award at this year's Piolet d'Or and at Chamonix Mountain Festival you will have a rare chance to hear their story first-hand.

“Petit Dru – The Disintegrating Mountain” with Andy Parkin and the film's producer Jochen Hemmleb A premiere of the documentary about the north face of the Petit Dru deformed and destroyed by a rock slide in 1997 and about two top alpinists - the Brit Andy Parkin and the American Steve House. The lives of both have been changed by dramatic accidents but for this film, Parkin and House climb the classical north face route of the Petit Dru together. Andy Parkin and the film's producer Jochen Hemmleb will be at the screening in person.

Caroline George - A female perspective on technical ice-climbing Caroline was introduced to climbing at a young age by her parents. Despite graduating with a law degree from university and speaking four languages, Caroline decided to pursue climbing professionally. She competed for three years in the ice climbing world cup and has worked as a sponsored athlete since 2000. Some of her accomplishments include: first ascents of difficult ice and mixed routes in the Canadian Rockies, ascents of El Cap and Half Dome in Yosemite Valley, the North Face of the Eiger, Grands Jorasses and Matterhorn, the Freney Pillar on Mont Blanc, first ascents rock climbing in Ethiopia and first ice climbing ascents in Iceland, Canada, Norway and Antarctica.
