The BMG are well qualified to test Arc'teryx's top of the range gear, which is designed to 'exceed the needs of the most demanding alpinists'. Members hold the IFMGA Carnet, the highest qualification in the world for mountain guiding. The IFMGA Carnet is also the only UK qualification valid abroad for taking clients climbing and skiing off-piste and on glacial terrain.

"Whether selecting a mountain guide or your clothing, why settle for less than the very best?" Stuart Macdonald, the BMG Equipment Officer commented.

Eight select aspirant BMG Guides have been kitted out with the highest spec Arc'teryx products available, and all BMG Guides can now purchase product on a pro deal. In return the BMG will provide valuable product feedback from their work in the world's most challenging conditions. All Guides can attend a 'program of clinics' to learn more about Arc'teryx. The BMG and Arc'teryx also plan to host some joint events.

The partnership was kicked off with a classic day of alpine climbing at the BMG annual meeting in Leysin, Switzerland on 10th June. James Bronson of Arc'teryx said: "We are excited to join with the BMG to support the progression of mountain culture and mountain pursuits. We look forward to working with these elite BMG Guides to equip them with the gear they need to perform at the high level their profession requires."

The select BMG members will be wearing the Alpha SV Jacket, Beta Pants and Alpha SV Gloves. The Alpha SV Jacket, designed for extreme conditions, is Arc'teryx's most durable waterproof shell made with Gore-Tex Pro Shell fabrics. The Alpha SV Glove, launched last winter, uses seam-taped 3-layer Gore-Tex Pro Shell fabric, protected by leather in the finger and palm area. It is widely considered as the most advanced glove on the market. The Beta AR Pants (built with Gore-Tex Pro Shell), with reinforced high-wear areas, are intended for rugged, back country use.
