New Base Layers From Patagonia For Spring

© Patagonia
Patagonia have jazzed up their base layers this season. Not just in their colour-ways: they've increased warmth, moisture management, stretch, durability and softness in their Capilene 3 and 4 baselayers and improved the design of their Capilene 2, 3 and 4 base layers to improve comfort. The result is their strongest Capilene collection to date, in four different weights from Silkweight to Expedition.

What is 'Capilene'? It's Patagonia's own brand, moisture-wicking polyester fabric, designed to dry quickly. Capilene polyester is also recycled, recyclable and features 'Gladiodor' garment odour control treatment.

1 Silkweight

Patagonia's lightest synthetic baselayer range offers 15 UPF Sun Protection. Designed for endurance activities in warm temperatures, these are highly breathable and fast drying to keep you cool. Versatile pieces, you can wear them on their own or under layers in cooler temperatures.

Available in tank top, T shirt, crew, zip-neck, briefs, boxers, and leggings styles.

2 Lightweight

Patagonia's most breathable synthetic baselayer range keep you dry and comfortable in warm to moderate temperatures, and they are also ideal for layering. The lightweight fabric features an open knit that encourages airflow and provides excellent wicking.

Available in T shirt, crew, zip-neck, briefs, boxers and leggings styles.

3 Midweight

The next step up is the extremely versatile 'Midweight' synthetic baselayers, designed to keep you dry and warm in cool to cold temperatures. The fast wicking of the updated Capilene fabric disperses moisture 38% faster than previous Capilene Midweight fabrics and dries 12% faster.

Available in crew, zip-neck, leggings and baby Capilene styles.

4 Expedition Weight

And finally, Patagonia's Expedition Weight base layers are the warmest range, with a brushed fleece interior for warmth. Interior 'touch' points wick moisture very effectively (25% faster than the previous Capilene 4 Expedition Weight fabric). The exterior is more durable than before too, and smooth for easy layering.

Available in zip-neck, full-zip, hoody and leggings styles.
