The latest map in the British Mountain Map series covers the southern half of the Snowdonia National Park.

The southern Snowdonia region stretches from the Traeth Bach estuary, near Porthmadog, eastwards to Bala and as far south as the Dyfi estuary at Aberdovey. Though not as popular as Snowdon and the surrounding summits, the mountains in this area, including the Arans, the Rhinogs and Cadair Idris, can be just as challenging and rewarding. For some, this solitude is a positive bonus.

Published by Harvey Maps in conjunction with the BMC, and designed especially for climbers and hill walkers, this new map covers the key mountains of southern Snowdonia on a single sheet at the 1:40,000 scale.

The map uses contour colour shading for easy identification of hills and valleys, and is printed on polyethylene to make it lightweight, tear-resistant and waterproof. The reverse side of the map contains mountain incident and first aid advice, navigation tips, useful visitor information, and geological information provided by the British Geological Survey.

You can pick up a copy of Snowdonia South from the BMC online shop or call the Membership Services Team on 0161 445 6111.

For Free Post & Packing on your order enter south in the voucher code box at checkout. Offer ends 31 August 2010.

The new map complements the original British Mountain Map of Snowdonia, first published in 2006, which covers the northern half of the national park. The award-winning British Mountain Map series also includes maps of the Lake District, the Yorkshire Dales, the Dark Peak, Dartmoor, Ben Nevis & Glen Coe, the Cairngorms, and Knoydart, Kintail & Glen Affric.
