The stores, located on Reading Road, Chineham in Basingstoke and on West Denton Way in Newcastle, will become the national outdoor retail chain's eighteenth and nineteenth stores.
GO Outdoors Basingstoke store manager Kevin Fricker said,
“Basingstoke will be an important store for GO Outdoors. It is a wonderful area for outdoor activity with Hampshire enjoying beautiful countryside of Salisbury Plain, the New Forest and the South Downs Basingstoke. The area also boasts some of the most spectacular coastal walks in the country.
With camping in the UK enjoying a surge of interest this year, we're looking forward to giving Basingstoke and the surrounding areas, one of the most vibrant outdoor retail experiences in the country.”
The new Basingstoke store will offer more than 20,000 outdoor lines. Everything from walking boots to ski-wear, fleeces to cycling equipment and tents to fishing will all feature in 13 individual store departments.
The dedicated tent area will have over 50 tents in more than 15,000 square feet of synthetic turf.
In a break with traditional outdoor store layouts, the Newcastle store will feature a centre-piece family-friendly five metre high indoor climbing wall will allow customers to experience indoor rock climbing. And they will be able to test out new footwear on a range of different walking surfaces.
