The inaugural Alpkit Big Shake Out follows on from the informal Old Salty Dog weekend we held at Llangennith last August.

We put up the teepee, invited some friends and did some surfing. With this very much in the back of our minds we wanted to put on a bigger event and invite more people.

The Big Shake Out is a weekend event that gives us the opportunity to meet a few of our friends while participating in a few of our favourite activities. We will provide a central base around which you can plan your weekend by providing camping, Friday and Saturday night entertainment, and a chance to try out gear from Alpkit, Genesis, Pyranha and Gibbon.

If you like kayaking, climbing, bouldering, mountain biking or walking then join us in Yorkshire for a social weekend and celebrate being outdoors. Blubberhouses.. what a jolly name, you couldn't really have a more fun named place for holding such an event, but it also gives easy access to some of the best climbing in Britain, one of the country's most picturesque rivers, as well as miles of bridleways and footpaths for bikers and walkers to enjoy, making it a great place to base your multi-activity weekend. There are many great locations within a 15 mile radius of our campsite; climb at Almscliff in the morning, kayak on the Washburn in the afternoon and sample the Stainburn north shore in the evening before returning back to base for food and a party.

Tickets will be available online from the 1st May and will cost £20.00. Kids under 10 will get in free and young adults (16 and below) must be accompanied by a responsible but cool adult.

The ticket price will include: Friday and Saturday night camping, Saturday night party and food, Sunday morning breakfast. Access to the River Washburn is free for those attending the Big Shake Out but there will be a small additional charge for people wanting to canoe on the Thurcross reservoir. Alpkit, Pyranha, Genesis and Gibbon Slacklines will all have equipment for you to try over the weekend.
