A two-week circular trail including the Wrekin, Stiperstones and Wenlock Edgeby by John Gillham.

Finalised in 2018, the official route of The Shropshire Way takes in some of rural England's most beautiful scenery and fascinating historical sites. Starting in Shrewsbury, this well-waymarked 182 mile (290km) circular route is made up of two loops that can be walked separately in week-long trips or completed together in a fortnight. Within this guidebook, the entire route is split into 15 stages of 10-15 miles per day, making it suitable for moderately fit walkers with good walking boots. For those wishing to explore the peaks and ridges of Shropshire, the guide also includes the Stretton Skyline Walk, a 20 mile (32km) route which can be walked in a single day or split into two with an overnight stop at Church Stretton.

The Way travels through the Shropshire Hills Area of Outstanding National Beauty (AONB), an area that alongside picturesque views boasts the most varied geology in the UK. The Shropshire Way meanders pleasantly through ancient woodland and along verdant riverbanks, before rising up through heathered hillside to the limestone and quartzite ridges of Wenlock Edge and Stiperstones. Historical delights also abound along the route as the Way visits Ironbridge, the birthplace of the Industrial Revolution, and the medieval castle town of Ludlow.

This guidebook provides plenty of insights into the rich history and geology of the area, alongside mapping and in-depth route description for both the main trail and the Stretton Skyline Walk. It also includes a detailed route summary table and notes about public transport, local services, and accommodation options. This official guidebook provides all the information needed to set out on this newly finalised walk through one of the UK's most enchanting landscapes.
