Want to hone your trad skills? Or do your first ever outdoor climb?
The Big Mountain Weekend will be returning to Langdale this year, from the 5th - 6th May to launch the Arc'teryx Lakeland Revival. The event aims to educate, share and improve skills necessary for enjoying the mountains and crags safely.
The weekend will be based around a series of clinics headed up by British Mountain Guides from the International School of Mountaineering. With the introduction of three new clinics and a 50% increase in places, this years proves to be even bigger and better!
Clinics include:
- Building safe anchors and setting up top ropes BOOK HERE

- Rock climbing for beginners BOOK HERE
- Multi pitch climbing BOOK HERE
- Scrambling BOOK HERE
New to the weekend and FREE for all will be The Langdale Climbing Challenge open to all abilities. Participants are invited to choose any route from our hand picked Langdale hidden classics route card, this could be a single climb or a full day mountain link up. Everyone that participates will receive a free limited edition Lakeland Revival DMM carabiner.
Also free over the weekend is an Adventure film night, live music from Scrogan's Run, photo competition, demo gear and expert advice from Arc'teryx, DMM, Tenaya, Beta Climbing and NikWax.

Looking to start moving outdoors with our climbing and doing some more adventurous scrambling. All booked up unfortunately.
As you say, with large enough numbers it could ruin a few weekends for those not knowing it's going on.
I was there on the same weekend last year with a group of people, the lakes is big enough that the only time we realised it was happening was at the bbq in the evening!
Alternatively they could just be honest and say it was a big advert for Arc'teryx - why else would they be doing it? I do find these things totally loathesome.
