Upgrade your comfort this winter with the revolutionary Ferrata II GTX from Hanwag Gear News

Early this year Hanwag introduced its exciting, new Ferrata II GTX rock boot and as autumn rapidly makes way for winter, conditions are perfect for this revolutionary new model.

Based on a long-term bestseller (the Hanwag Ferrata Combi), the new Ferrata II builds on its predecessor's winning design but updates it with brand new sole tech and a completely redesigned upper. Pairing exceptional technical prowess with previously unimaginable underfoot comfort, the Ferrata II is the perfect partner for your winter treks.

The highlight of the Ferrata II GTX is its advanced TubeTec Rock sole which is responsible for the boot's new levels of comfort and reduced weight. Offering significantly more underfoot cushioning on hard terrain than traditional climbing boots have previously been able to, the TubeTec Rock sole means the boot is comfortable for the walk in and walk out, yet still offers precise edging for climbing.

Hanwag's TubeTec technology uses an extremely cushioning polyurethane (PU) midsole material and protects it for rugged mountain use with an outer "tube" made of TPU. The protective TPU "tube" makes it possible for Hanwag to use the more comfortable, shock absorbing PU in the midsole, and deliver a level of cushioning and comfort not often found in mountain footwear.

It's not all about comfort though, this boot really delivers when it comes to performance too. The outer tube's special design with TPU ribs and outer reinforcements ensure stability and traction, while also creating a climbing zone for maximum edging stability. On the Ferrata II GTX, the TubeTec Rock sole unit is completed with a proven Vibram Mont compound outsole that features Hanwag's weight-saving yet aggressive Integral Light tread for reliable grip and traction.

As well as the revolutionary new sole, the new Ferrata also features a completely updated upper too. Constructed from a combination of abrasion resistant microfibre fabrics and a more flexible, yet still durable polyamide, the Ferrata II GTX's new upper design means it is outstandingly durable in tough, winter terrain yet also features carefully positioned 'flex zones' which ensure the Ferrata II GTX provides the ultimate combination of comfort and protection.

Minimal stitching on the exterior of the boot minimises the risk of abrasion and the super stable upper also has a 360o ankle cuff that offers excellent support yet also allows the right amount of flexibility around the ankle for precise placement on the rock. Click clamp eyelets offer two zone lacing for a precise yet comfortable fit and the boots are also compatible with semi-automatic crampons.
