LEKI's new, award-winning Black Series trekking pole (£194.95) offers the highest technical and aesthetic standards on the market.

Recognised by the OutDoor Industry Awards 2018 in the climbing category for its innovative design, the Jury commented, "A super-strong, super-light and comfortable carbon performance trekking pole. We particularly liked the new folding system and inner locking mechanism."

This coveted award also listed LEKI's Black Series as 'outstanding' when it came to degree of innovation, functionality, choice of materials and weight/pack size.

The adjustable, folding, 100 per cent carbon pole is packed with technical features.

The Core Locking Device (CLD) technology ensures it is one of the lightest, yet most stable poles available. The pole is locked with a simple pull and click into place. Easy even when wearing gloves. And because the mechanism is integrated into the pole it is protected from any external influences, such as dirt and sand; and the weight of the pole is reduced by 13 per cent to just 207 grams.

The Black Series features the edgeless Aergon grip – extremely comfortable when both climbing and descending. The breathable, lightweight LEKI skin strap adds minimal weight. And the Speedlock 2 external adjustment system allows for a variable custom length adjustment from 110cm to 130cm. Packed up, each pole is just 40cm long.

Whether for trekking, multi day hikes or via ferratas; this pole impresses with its versatility. Design lovers will get their money's worth as the Black Series exudes high levels of elegance in a fine matte gloss look with tone on tone print.

I wanted to be the first to do an incredulous "aesthetic standards!?!?!?!?" with some additional angry face emoticons, but on second thoughts, having had a look at them, they do look quite swish. Which you would want for nearly 200 quid!

Happy to review a pair to see if they still look so smart covered in Peak District peat bog and sheep sh*t and scratched up by Welsh scree fields. ;-)

You could have questioned the disparity between "packed with technical features" and " a simple pull and click into place" :) You can't do angry face emoticons effectively on here can you? I continue to cherish my 4-section Trek Mates folding poles that I got in Blacks for £45

"Whether for trekking, multi day hikes or via ferratas; this pole impresses with its versatility."

Via ferratas...? Errrr....how does a pole help with that..?

I've never done any "carbon performance trekking", so it looks like I've swerved the £195 I'd have to pay for a suitable pole.

You loop the pole over the cable and slide down like a zip-wire.
