This innovative sock brand is new to the UK. The socks have features which have never been seen in the sock world before, using their own Tri-Layer technology, as well as world exclusive Primaloft yarn and Polartec Powerstretch technology.

'Tri-Layer technology', as the name suggests, is a three layer system. It ensures any excess moisture produced by the foot is wicked away from the skin to keep the foot dry. A hydrophobic polyester layer sits next to skin to move sweat away from the foot without absorbing it. The intermediate layer then takes the moisture in and sends it to the outside of the sock where it will evaporate quicker over a larger surface area. The nylon outerlayer gives the socks their durability and abrasion resistance.

Some Lorpen socks use world exclusive Primaloft yarn and Polartec Powerstretch technology. These Primaloft fibres are half the size of cashmere and, compared to merino wool, have a 30% faster drying time and will wick moisture 2X faster.

To create the ultimate insulation system, Polartec Powerstretch is combined with Primaloft to deliver unprecedented performance in extreme cold conditions. Tested on climbs over 8,000m these socks have been engineered to function in the coldest environments on earth.

The socks are engineered for comfort with flat knit toe seams, mesh instep, multi density knit and lycra plus to avoid any slipping or bagging. Outdoor, Multisport, Winterport and women-specific styles are available.

I have a couple of pairs of Lorpen socks I got in france, one is powerstretch and the other is powerstretch/primaloft. http://www.auvieuxcampeur.fr/nos-produits/chaussette-et-mi-bas/chaussettes-pour-le-ski-et-le-froid/laine-soie-esf-36427.html http://www.auvieuxcampeur.fr/nos-produits/chaussette-et-mi-bas/chaussettes-pour-le-ski-et-le-froid/laine-soie-esf-36422.html They certainly are very warm, and they're very nicely made. I prefer the comfort of wool but one advantage of these powerstretch socks is the quick drying -- in the evening in a bivi I take the sweaty damp pair next to the skin and they dry extremely quickly, much more so than wool.
