Tried, tested and much loved, the Rab Microlight Jacket seamlessly entered the lives of climbers, hikers and mountaineers over a decade ago. Instantly embraced for its fit, versatility and warmth, it was a game changer for the outdoor industry and quickly became an icon.

First designed as a classic layering piece for alpine climbers, our Microlight Alpine has seen far more than mountains in its lifetime. Worn under a harness, over an old jumper, with climbing pants or jeans - from remote belay ledges to long days on the hill, this packable jacket is well travelled. Trends come and go, but the Microlight has remained steadfast.

10 Years On is a celebration the Microlight, of one of our most loved products. To the untrained eye, changes are subtle. However, on closer inspection, you can see a decade of natural evolution. Refinements here, tweaks there - our perfectionism shows. This year is bigger than that. Deconstructed, analysed and carefully rebuilt, every tiny detail of the Microlight has been scrutinised and honed.

Alongside perfecting the old, we're also introducing the new - the Microlight Summit. Born from the classic Microlight, the Summit is inspired by innovative new fabric developments. Signalling the start of something special it harks back to the original jacket's purpose, pure alpinism.

'The Microlight Summit is the pinnacle of our Microlight range. It's a culmination of 10 years developing the Microlight concept, using cutting-edge materials and construction techniques.

It takes our classic Microlight ingredients – micro baffles filled with 750FP goose down - and pairs them with Pertex Infinity Weave fabric. This 20d continuous tunnel fabric eliminates the stitch-holes between the down chambers, stopping wind penetration and preventing warm air from escaping.

• Filled with ethically-sourced European goose down - 750 fill power RDS certified down traps body heat, maximising warmth on cold belays.
• Nikwax hydrophobic treatment - allows the down to maintain its loft by preventing it from absorbing water in damp conditions.
• Helmet-compatible hood - with laminated brim and polymer peak can be cinched in for extra warmth and protection from ice and spin-drift.
• Stretch nylon cuffs - fit comfortably over gloves and allow for quick transitions.
• Two-way YKK Vislon zip - with insulated zip baffle and chin guard makes for easy use with a harness.
• Longer length - combined with a slim fit and adjustable hem ensure a close fit for efficient insulation.
• Small stuff sack - when not in use the Microlight Summit's pack size makes it easy to stow in a pack or clip to your harness.
