Alpkit Tents Are On The Way!

First shipment of our new Alpkit Mountain Tents has just left our factory. With 3 tents in the range there is a model for every high altitude adventure possible. Sprawl in comfort with all your equipment in the hugh Heksa on the valley floor. Recuperate at higher camps in the Zhota before making for the summit in the Kangri.

The Alpkit mountain tent range comprises three models based around a common series of design criteria. Every tent is structured around a geodesic pole configuration offering unrivaled space vs overall strength. The outer fabric is a 40D Ripstop PU/Siliconised Nylon, chosen for its lightness, strength and resistance to UV. The nylon groundsheet has a PU coating of 10,000mm to resist ingress of moisture. Throughout the tent are subtle features designed to make campsite life easier. Rated hang tabs and pockets throughout the inner make sure you can keep your equipment where it is needed. Multiway zips, storage tabs and pockets make the doors the most versatile available. The current prices are estimates and may well go up or down depending on final landed costs.

The three models include:

Kangri
Approx price tag of around £350
Expected final production weight 3.8kgs

4 pole, 2 person geodesic tent. Based on the classic and original geodesic designs of the 80's the shape of the Kangri will be familiar to many. It is hard to improve on perfection!

Zhota
Approx price tag of around £450
Expected final production weight 4.7kgs

6 pole, up to 4 person geodesic mountain tent. The subtle addition of a spreader bar on the central pole spider gives this tent one of the most livable spaces for it's weight on the market.

Heksa
Approx price tag of around £650
Expected final production weight 8.6kg

9 pole, up to 6 person geodesic mountain tent. Like nothing else on the market the Heksa is big and strong. 3 large vestibule entrances gives amazing versatility and storage capacity. With acres of internal floor space and amazing headroom this tent will be seen on basecamps around the world as well campsites throughout Britain.

3.8kg for a 2 man seems quite heavy.

Not if it's a bombproof mountain tent.

Alpkit stuff in the past has done well because it was sold cheap and was OK quality. I think trying to enter the tent market with no pedigree at terra nova prices they are going to struggle but best of luck to them.

I agree, 350 quid for a 3.8kg, 2 man tent based on a preexisting design from an untested tent maker; not the most exciting offer. Will be interesting to see how it pans out.
