Was out climbing in Arpeggio Gully today close to the Downfall. Lots of ice on the Downfall. Don't know how good it is but it is there. One party were walking out as we walked in. Looked like they may have climbed it but didn't speak to them as we weren't that near.

Another climber was heading in with a view to soloing it as we walked out at sunset. We did speak to him.

Looks worth a look for anyone interested.

The centre is pretty wet and unformed , the right hand side is formed but thin and brittle. It could do with aanother couple of days to get in good shape

No chance - it'll be smashed to pieces by midday :/

Looks like there was a very small window to climb as bits were melting and collapsing after 7am. We tried a few seasons back and got there too late in the day. Would be interested to hear from members who had a go yesterday.

It was fine yesterday, we climbed it at midday. No real collapses while we were there, and good solid placements.  It was a bit wet under and over some it, but no more than 'usual '

In reply to Dan Arkle: Sounds like you got the conditions just about right -You should make a video about that so that it can be linked whenever anyone mentions Kinder

I cant be arsed to walk up and check but given how green everything around here is today I suspect the Downfall is mostly in the Mersey by now
