I’m a climber and filmmaker with a recently broken ankle.

I’d like to film some ice climbing with my friends but everywhere we normally climb is inaccessible to me now.

Does anyone have any reccomendations for some roadside ice within an hour or so from Cham?

Cheers all!

Less than 100m from the road is a big ask. I'd head to Cogne, Lillaz might fit the bill but no idea what current conditions are like and it's more than 100m with some uphill...

In reply to rocksol: it’s a lot longer than 100m from the cremerie car park to the climbing though

I believe there is something on the road to Switzerland, somewhere between Vallorcine and Trient, where if you park up and walk along the old disused road that goes around a buttress (as opposed to the new road, which goes through it in a tunnel), there is a short grade 4 with an abseil approach. I have no idea on a name I'm afraid, I'm not an ice climber.

Another twenty meters further still doesn't make it roadside...

Thanks all, I’ve dispatched some friends to cogne to recce.

I’ll head up towards Vallorcine next week and have a look!

Thanks again!

The Cascade du Dard is pretty roadside but that rarely freezes up... Was climable (though) partially formed a December so could be worth asking around about that?
