I've had an awful winter, my weekends away have not coincided with the good conditions and with the great late season pics I've been seeing,  I thought finally... this weekend.

Although looking at the forecast I think I may be a bit late

Is it time to put the tools away for another season and prepare for the rock!

Well if it's any consolation I've had a shit one too.

the winter season on the Ben lasts well into May most years, indeed it can be possible to climb 'winter' routes in June some years! and elsewhere, if you are happy doing grade 1/2 snow plods then there is still plenty left to go at if you are itching to use the pointy things. just get an early start after a clear night and you will have an alpine-esque day.

I was hoping for a late trip to the Ben over Easter, even enquired with CIC guardian if there was space, which there probably still is (see SMC website). Unfortunately I've now got omicron covid. If there's a late snow/freeze up I might venture up there, but it's not looking hopeful. Welsh rock in May now I think.

Lots getting climbed last weekend but the notes show that conditions were already waning and challenging: https://www.ukclimbing.com/logbook/conditions/uk_winter/

Three solid days of thaw this week: http://lochaberblog.sais.gov.uk/

And temps staying pretty warm over the weekend: https://www.wxcharts.com/?panel=default&model=gfs,gfs,gfs,gfs&regio...

Funny how a season can go. 4 weeks back we broke down at Tyndrum and got towed back home way south of the border to my local garage. After 3 weeks waiting for the van to be fixed, the weeks trip we planned obviously got canned. That was our main Scot winter trip in the bin. We feel your frustration but making summer plans takes the sadness away.

I was hoping to do an easy gully up the Ben tomorrow, but cornice collapse is too risky for my tastes.

So I've decided to work OT tomorrow instead. Bummer.
