Heading out end of the week..most likely bypassing Rjukan which seems to have suffered from the hairdryer treatment!

Im sure it'll be a bit hit & miss even in Hemsedal but does anyone have a lot of experience out there in terms of suggestions for maybe the higher altitude climbs? Or best of all a local contact who knows everything and can be bought for a bottle of malt????

Thanks in advance!

PS. If anyone has simialr advice for Oppsdal that'd also be much appreciated!

Big Lee of this parish has been out ice-climbing lately, I'm sure he can help ya.

Oppdal has been quite warm-ish but ice will certainly linger.

It's also getting cold again, which is nice but there is a lot of snow and wind forecast for the next few days. Avalanche danger isnt huge along Drivdalen but there had been quite a considerable one down the side of Tøftfossen just before Christmas. And the top out there is likely choked up/corniced.

The ever present Kongsvollfossen will be very ok but the first slope on the descent might be a tad sketch and has slid out before.

Vinstradalen and klevan areas were very good before Xmas but may have suffered quite a lot, I haven't been there recently but the temps for those areas are looking good again.

Sunndalen is absolutely out and will likely have a lot of overhead after a few heavy storms.

Otta could also be worth a look if you're driving North. Some excellent stuff worth doing there!

Hope this helps

Most of Grondalen is ok. We climbed Tuvfossen (good conditions) Mureklov (not so fun and pretty crappy ice) and Hydalsfossen (highly recommended). Golsjuvet was fun as well, but be careful with the river bed, you don't want to fall in... We came back homethis Sunday.
