Know it’s a total long shot but has anyone tried putting the new soft a balling plates on petal vasaks? The old ones are really scuffed and so grippy and balling up every twenty metres! Would love not to have to replace the crampons but wud also love not to waste twenty quid by finding out they won’t go!

thanks loads for any advice!!

I had this problem with an old pair of Vasaks. Anti-Balling plates like velcro! Unfortunately the new soft plates don't fit. You could 'ghetto' fit them with a bodge job using rivets and wire and tape and stuff, but I have sadly accepted that these crampons are to be retired. Boo.

Just because of old anti-balling plates?!  Make your own. I've found big 4 pint milk containers, gorilla tape around the edge and either green plastic coated garden wire or zip ties do a great job.  It seems a shame to retire all that crampon for the want of an anti bot.

Bleach bottle plastic and coat hanger wire.

Available in many colours to match this season's look, darling!
