Sorry Jon, you’ll have to explain exactly what you mean here - kidding about what exactly?

We have some of the plain white ones that get used every camping trip. Great bits of kit. I imagine the kids would love the coloured ones.....

Likewise, we’ve got a set of the plain ones for family camping and they’ve been great. Suspect my kids would feel the same about the coloured ones, although I’m not sure I would 😂

Well Rob, I'm trying to think exactly where I (or most other climbers) might use them. I suppose I could hang them in the trees when I'm 'stealth' camping so I don't trip over stuff in the dark, but might just defeat the object.

Seriously, educate me. They just seem a rather lightweight competition prize to me (though I do note the slightly defensive nature of your reply  )

I think you might be overcomplicating this a little Jon.

They’re for use whilst camping. Not ‘wild camping’ or anything technical, just recreational car camping, where weight isn’t paramount. This is what I’ve used them for at least and I suspect others have too.

The nearest equivalent I can think of that you might be familiar with is the old camping gas lanterns which people used to use.

We giveaway a pretty wide array of stuff on site, some of which is quite specialist, then some - like this - has a much broader appeal. Not everyone that visits UKC is after the lightest and most technical gear. Some just want something simple like this.

Touché! Actually  Hilary just said, " are they solar... can we have some?"

For god's sake, don't give away hamacs

Ha, you better get your entry in…

> For god's sake, don't give away hammocks

We’ve been shown a fair few at trade shows over the years, and asked to review a few on site, but have always declined on the grounds that their application in the UK is pretty limited.

Now that I’ve said that we’ll probably give one away within the next month 😂

I'm convinced that hammocks have loads of uses in the UK, mainly for stealthy camping in places where it would otherwise be impossible (no flat ground for a tent)
