The sad thing about this is that there needs to be an article at all. I still don't understand how anybody who wants to spend time outdoors, and therefore presumably likes seeing the countryside, can then leave it in anything other than the same (or better) condition that it was in when they arrived.

If respect for the environment and countryside was taught better at a young age, perhaps we'd have a chance. As it is, I worry about a slippery slope where wild camping near a remote road will not be tolerated anywhere due to the actions of the minority.

Valid for roadside camping is that you can pack a spade. Much better for digging your toilet hole that the shite trowels which fail to do the job.
