Just a wee tip if doing this route in heavy rain. One of the escape routes recommended by Dan if you get stuck on the south side of the Fords of Avon is to retreat back towards Linn o Dee. However the Glas Allt Mhor, near the head of Glen Derry, can rise very quickly in heavy rain and can become uncrossable. Following the burn upstream means an ascent right up onto the plateau because of the steep banks and is not a good idea in extreme weather. It may be necessary to head up towards the Hutchison Hut, cross the burn by the small wooden plank bridge, and descend Glen Derry on the 'wrong' side. No path and very arduous. One of those places where there is no easy solution.
