Searching hard for omissions, did you mention that the emergency telephone number is 118 ?
And for goodness sake don't go without appropriate off-piste rescue insurance - they will still come and get you, but an emergency chopper ride is way expensive.

Just as a tip for anyone buying snowshoes, if you are just after a beginners model then TSL are cheaper generally than 'Inooks'. They also tend to be a little broader and so offer a bit more support and stability for beginners. If you are passing a 'Decathlon' (a popular outdoor store in Italy, pretty similar to 'Cotswold Outdoor' in size, they normally do snowshoes below the 100 euro mark, as there is the demand that you don't get in the UK.
