The BMC AGM last weekend agreed annual subscription increases of between 10% and 45%. From next year full individual members will pay £27.50/year (10% increase), club members will pay £8/year (28%) and £13.50 to upgrade to full member (42%). All these increases were passed without much opposition. There was some debate over the proposed increases for student membership fees and, in response to an amendment proposed from the floor, these were frozen for next year.

The fact that these increases have gone through without much opposition seems curious when only last October there was intense debate on Rocktalk and at various local and national meetings over much smaller increases proposed for this year. Could it be that last year's debate has had a knock-on effect or is it just that the clubs have now had more chance to plan for the increases?
