Hi all,

I took my thermarest out this evening to pack for a camping trip and discovered there's quite a lot of mold on the underside of the mat. I've tried treating it with some mold killer spray, which didn't seem to do a lot. A couple of questions:

Any ideas for removing mold from a thermarest? I could try soaking it in bleach, but not sure that would be too good for the thermarest?

Any thoughts on whether it's much of a health hazard? I wouldn't want it right by my face, but as it's on the underside of the mat I'm thinking it should be OK in a ventilated tent?

I'd bleach it.

Dilute it a bit, it kills mould dead and removes the staining too.

Should generally be ok on nylon and many other manmade fabrics. Might be worth trying to not bleach the seams/edges too much

Lemon juice, salt and baking soda.

It is only mould, a stiff brush/scourer with hot water and good scrubbing should get rid of it. Then dry it properly,

Chris
