Well I guess this is gear advice

Asking for a colleague, who has "owned a Primus blowlamp from new for the last 54 years". he tells us there is leakage around the gland nut to the tank. Once upon a time asbestos rope fragments would have been used as initial caulking at manufacture, so what does the hive mind recommend for replacement?

Thanks in advance

Not quite sure which nut that is... Is that something that gets hot?

Well if it required asbestos rope then I'm guessing yes, very...

There's rope you use on the inside of the door of log burner stoves to make a seal. May be possible to shred off a smaller diameter piece.

Ceramic cord, used for fire door seals etc. High-temp silicone or teflon tape is the easy option.
