Vintage ice axe made in Britain?

Hi folks.

I'm a casual collector of vintage ice axes.  I have some beauties.

I am curious if there are any vintage axes made in the UK.

Although there are a wonderful bit of history for the right person, I'm not interested in any of the fascinating vintage technical axes made in the UK.

Instead, I'm looking for general purpose mountaineering axes, wood-handled, forged steel head ice, probably from the 1940s-1970s.

Do such axes exist?  Names?  Availability?

Thanks.

Hello, I too collect ice tools, but mainly technical short handled tools.  I have a few old wooden-handled axes by Grivel, Simond and Stubai.  I see Brades ice axes on Ebay every now and then.  They were made in the UK and are quite collectable.  Other than those, I'm afraid my knowledge is scant!  Please share what ice tools you have in your collection.  I love the history and the design directions that some makers took, and it would be great to see what you have.  Have a look in my photo gallery here - I recently uploaded some photos of some of my axes.  Best wishes, Jamie.
